The sticky oak
dining table
A sticky table was the unexpected challenge presented to me. The client had attempted a DIY refinishing with varnish but the finish had failed to cure properly, leaving a tacky residue. This issue often stems from inadequate surface preparation, with remnants of old finishes or grease interfering with the new coating.
To rectify the problem, the table underwent a complete stripping process to remove the sticky varnish. Once restored to bare wood, it was refinished with a hardwax oil, allowing the oak's natural beauty to shine through with a durable, protective finish.
